Immersed
in Christ is a spiritual formation
program for the laity. Individuals, small groups, whole
parishes and even whole dioceses can use this program.
The Introductory program uses the book Reaching
Jesus which introduces the five steps; Christian,
Disciple, Prophet,
Priest and King.
Each step is then expanded in a book based on Matthew's
Gospel; Why Jesus?,
A Change Within,
Saving Presence,
No Power But Love,
& Until He Comes.
The
program is designed so that everyone in a parish can
participate. The book and workbook can be used individually,
with families, or with small groups. For people not
interested in using the workbook, they can read the
book on their own. Each step is also explained in a
one-page leaflet (8.5" x 11" printed on both
sides) which can be handed out to everyone at weekend
masses. These leaflets are perfect for individuals who
do not have the time or inclination to read a book,
they can be taken to people in nursing homes (large
print version also available), read and discussed around
the dinner table, and as an extra reminder for people
using the book. There are also small cards which summarize
the leaflets to hand out with the leaflets. These cards
will fit in a pocket or purse and can be carried around
as a constant reminder. All of these materials are available
in English and Spanish.
Every
step of Immersed in Christ is tied to the Mass
in the workbook and the brief explanations there can
be used before Mass to help everyone (at least everyone
who shows up on time) learn more about the step and
the Mass.
Immersed
in Christ is not tied to the lectionary so it can
be used at any time of the year. It does fit Lent and
homily helps are available to link the Lenten readings
to each step.
